Brett Oemichen has joined the Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle crew as our newest agent. Brett and his wife Sue bought a Camano 31 Trawler from Waterline Boats in 2010 and are avid boaters. It’s 34.2! The design of the 2000 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 makes it function and feel larger than a 34 foot vessel.
Stepping below you are greeted with a saloon abundant in warm teak and designed with chic European styling. The dinette is a clever semi-circle lounge seat with an elliptical table and sliding bench seat on the opposing side. The galley has ample pantry and counter space, a two-burner gimballed stove/oven and double stainless steel sinks that make for easy cooking and entertaining. The forepeak cabin and aft double cabin are each worthy of the “master stateroom” title. The starboard and aft heads are also impressive in their size and appointments.
A user-friendly boarding platform and walk-through transom lead you to a teak-lined sizable cockpit that is able to seat six adults comfortably. A masthead rig with full battened main and furling jib make this Jeanneau fun and easy to sail.

At Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle we watch internet traffic as a key indicator, and have highly sophisticated tools to assess traffic. One of our most frequently viewed vessels is this lovely 46 foot wooden ketch built in 1986 in Oswego, Oregon. She was displayed in August at the Vancouver Wooden Boat Festival and the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival where she was a definite attention-getter.
She was purchased by her current owners in 2002 for $142,000. A 2007 restoration provided a thorough wooden boat tune-up. In 2008 she made a round trip to Southeast Alaska. Today her owners are changing their lifestyle and have put their beloved boat up for sale.
An October 2012 survey reported the boat in overall above average condition. The entire vessel under the waterline was found to be in sound condition with representative fasteners having been pulled for examination. Several small areas on the pilothouse and two on the aft deck were found to be soft. A shipwright’s estimate to repair the two deck spots was approximately $5600 with the few on the house considered to be “smaller projects”. The sellers subsequently reduced the asking price by more than $10,000 as an incentive for a capable woodworker to consider buying the boat. Gary Buck, Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle’s agent for this boat can provide photos that illustrate the areas to be repaired — these do not reduce the usability of the vessel and appear to be confined to exterior plywood areas of the construction and are not readily visible.
This boat’s value was estimated at survey to be $87,000 in post-repair condition or $83,000 as-is in the current market. The sellers have reduced the asking price to $74,000 and are very willing to consider offers. She represents a great buy on a unique, capable and beautiful ketch.
