Waterline Boats welcomes our newest broker Bill Lynch to the crew! We’re excited to have Bill representing the Lower Puget Sound, a great boating area that he knows well.

Born and raised in Olympia Bill has a proud family history there. His Grandfather and father were members of the Fire Department and Bill was in the fire sprinkler business for more than 30 years. When they weren’t working they were out on the water. When Bill was born his father owned a trawler and Bill’s earliest memories are cruising the sound with his family. Bill took his first boating course at 14 and a few years later, bought his first boat; a 17’ Olympic outboard.

A boat is always a good reason to bring friends and family together and Bill’s backyard happens to be a premier destination for boaters.

When he’s not cruising Johnson Point or crabbing on Anderson Island he’s getting to know his neighbors at Zittel’s Marina. For Bill, helping his friends and neighbors in Olympia list and sell their boats is an exciting opportunity. It’s a chance to get to know his community and a great excuse to talk boats.

Someday Bill hopes to own or charter a nice size yacht and take his family on a long cruise to the San Juan Islands. Until then he’s excited to help his fellow Olympians realize their boating dreams.

This 2001 Camano 31 is a rare find — outfitted for cruising with a very good complement of equipment and in very nice condition.

The Camano 31 is a well-known Northwest boat and was designed for these waters — ready to handle a wide range of conditions, sturdy, simple to operate and maintain, workboatlike in appearance, capable of comfortable long-range cruising, and with an amazingly large interior space. A study of the photos of the boat demonstrates that it would be literally impossible to design a boat with better 360-degree visibility and more light.

Great Things Happening In 2017!

The Bracewell 41 arriving to our Waterline Boats Docks this spring is one of those things!

The Bracewell 41 Performance Trawler, previously built by Bracewell Marine Group in Richmond, BC, and itself derived from the venerable Camano 41 is back in production. Manufacturing is in a new shipyard near Shanghai under the Bracewell Shanghai Yacht Company, Ltd. The Bracewell 41 is a beautiful two cabin trawler constructed to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. It is based on the unique Bob Warman-designed “keelform” hull that is known for seaworthy performance and ability to cruise comfortably and efficiently from 8 to 16+ knots.

Waterline Boats is the exclusive Washington licensee (under Boatshed Seattle, Boatshed Tacoma, and Boatshed Everett) for the Boatshed International Yacht Brokerage Group, and the Boatshed System provides a unique and innovative work structure that makes these positions possible. Waterline Boats is also a dealer for Helmsman Trawlers and Krogen Express Yachts.

Retirees and others looking for supplemental income derived from doing what they love — being around boats — may find this job to be a unique opportunity and a dream fit. California Cruising Couple Creatively Conceives Commodious Customizations

John and Mary Torelli (and Sailor Blue) are pictured with their new Helmsman Trawlers 38E Pilothouse Trawler.

John and Mary are experienced boaters having owned three Nordhavns prior to their Helmsman and authoring “Life is a Journey Why Not Live It Aboard a Trawler?” (available from Amazon!). John and Mary contributed fundamentally and significantly to many of the design features that distinguish the 38E from its predecessor, and also customized their boat’s interior to meet their desire for a very large, open main salon.

John and Mary are mooring their boat at the Sunroad Marina on Harbor Island in San Diego. They plan to cruise to Santa Catalina Island, Baja Mexico, and eventually complete the Great Loop in their Helmsman 38E.

Helmsman Trawlers Building First 31 Sedan with John Deere Engine

Waterline Boats received an order for a Helmsman Trawlers from a Canadian customer to build a 31 Sedan that will be the first to use a John Deere engine. This customer is an exceptionally knowledgeable boater, with many boats under his current and prior ownership, and prefers to operate at displacement speeds with a lower RPM engine. Consequently we’re installing a 4045TFM85 engine rated at 125 horsepower at 2500 rpm. This will provide reliable and long-lived propulsion with a top speed in the range of 9 knots and a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. The 31 Sedan, based upon the well-known and capable Camano 31 hull, is designed to operate well at higher semi-displacement speeds but its hull is very well-suited to displacement operation also. It has a substantial long keel with skeg-hung rudder, a low center of gravity, high freeboard, tough construction, and a slightly rounded transom to enhance tracking in following seas. This will be an interesting power combination and will appeal to others who want a compact, reliable yacht-quality trawler that is NOT a planing boat in disguise.
