The Pacific Northwest Mariner owner’s group welcomes Scott and Marian Bulger, new owners of HOBOMACK, 2007 Mariner 37 Seville Pilothouse Trawler.
Scott and Marian are experienced boaters. They are former Camano 31 owners, and more recently cruised a Nordhavn 40 up and down the west coast, through the Panama Canal, and up and down the east coast from Florida to Boston. In selecting their Mariner 37 they were looking for a quality mid-sized trawler with a higher turn of speed and good sea-keeping abilities. They also found the Mariner to have a roomy, comfortable interior with an ideal layout for their needs.

The Mariner 37 Seville Pilothouse Trawler is fairly new to the West Coast, but with their number growing they have attracted attention and growing interest. Compare the Mariner 37 with a Nordic Tug 37 or 39, or an American Tug 34, 365 or 395. You’ll see that the Mariner is more open and spacious and is also more finely-crafted in rich, beautiful teak and holly joinery – at a much more affordable price. The heavy, hand-laid fiberglass hull construction, integral grid structure, heavy stainless steel double-rung handrails, deep footwells, high bulwarks and wide port and starboard bridge access stairs provide for safe and easy cruising.
But wait……….there’s more!
This looks-like-new, well-maintained 2007 Mariner 37 Pilothouse features a galley complete with contemporary granite countertops, 3 burner stove/oven, deep stainless sink, fridge/freezer and plenty of cabinetry and storage. The full-beam saloon is bigger than the saloon on most 45 foot boats, and includes an entertainment center, storage cabinetry and a reclining chair across from the L-shaped settee – which converts to queen size sleeping. The second head (with shower capability), is just forward of the settee and with the simple use of a curtain enclosure you can provide your occasional nighttime guests with a private suite including private head.
The pilothouse, just two steps up and forward of the saloon has an L-shaped dinette to port that converts to a single pilot berth. The helm station is starboard with great visibility and easy access to the foredeck or the flybridge via port and starboard sliding pilothouse doors. Unlike most pilothouse boats it is possible to see the aft quarters of the boat from the helm station – improving confidence while docking.
The luxurious master cabin forward of the pilothouse includes an island queen, six storage drawers, port and starboard shelving and hanging lockers, and separate head and shower compartments.

The Mariner line is still fairly new to the west coast, so our rendezvous attracted curious passersby when the line up was observed at the La Conner Marina last weekend. Proud Mariner owners were generous in displaying their boats inside and out. And clever ideas and cruising tips were discussed over food and drinks. Our next Mariner Yachts rendezvous is already scheduled – 7-9 October 2011.

Last week Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle participated in the Seattle-Lake Union Boats Afloat Show. Tuesday’s invitation-only VIP night was a hit, and guests enoyed wine, appetizers, music and beautiful weather! Even though rain made several appearances during the remainder of the show we were busy at the Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle float – where we displayed all of our brokerage listings and showed four new and used boats.
Boat Show attendees had the opportunity to board a Bracewell Pacesetter 540, a Mariner 42 Classic Trawler, a pre-owned Mariner 37 Pilothouse Trawler and a dealer – demo Camano 41. The new Bracewell 41 (built on the Camano Keelform hull) was represented at the show in print brochures and posters.

Waterline Boats received delivery of a new 2010 Mariner 42 Classic Sedan Trawler, the first on the West Coast. Mariner has delivered many of these to East Coast customers and the two-stateroom yacht has been very well regarded for its comfort, spaciousness, seakeeping and traditional styling.
This boat is now available for viewing at our docks on Lake Union, and is very specially priced at $319,660, including many options and a Cummins QSL 9.0 405 hp commercial duty engine. With this unique and valuable engine package, the 42 Classic will cruise economically and reliably for many years.
Mariner Yachts has announced the launch of two new trawler designs – the 41 River and the 41 Sundeck. These boats feature luxurious staterooms fore and aft, a generously-sized saloon, and an expansive raised aft deck. They differ in their flybridge configurations. As with all Mariner Seville-series yachts, these boats will be built with well-crafted teak and holly interiors, sturdy hull and superstructure construction, and many thoughtful features throughout.
The first of the new models built, a 41 River is in final testing in preparation for delivery to a customer, and photos of the boat will be available soon. These yachts are both being introduced at an attractive base price for 2010 models of $357,500, including delivery and prep.

The Waterline Boats crew enjoyed a successful TrawlerFest in beautiful Anacortes. After getting thoroughly soaked on arrival day we appreciated the sunny weather that predominated during the show. The Bracewell Pacesetter 540 received several “best in show” comments from guests and the Mariner 37 Pilothouse Trawler hosted many repeat visitors and two sea trials before returning to our Lake Union office. We had a lot of interest in our Boatshed International Yacht Brokerage system, which continues to grow with over 70 offices worldwide and is proving itself to be the best process for listing and selling a used boat!

The Pacesetter also serves as an example of the craftsmanship and design features that Bracewell Boatworks has planned for the new Camano 41. Lance Bracewell of Bracewell Boatworks will join us at the show to discuss the Camano 41 and the Pacesetter line. In addition, we’ll have information about our trawler-style brokerage boats, presented with the Boatshed International Yacht Brokerage system.

Waterline Boats and Boatshed Seattle had a great ten days at the Seattle Boat Show talking about boats at its Lake Union display and at Qwest Field. Many visitors boarded our Mariner 37 Pilothouse Trawler on display, and we had to return to the printer several times for more literature on the boat. At Qwest Field we fine-tuned our process for quickly explaining that Boatshed doesn’t build sheds. Once that message was understood people were almost always interested to stop and learn about the many advantages of listing and buying used boats through Boatshed. Demonstrating the true international character of Boatshed, we publicized Boatshed Vancouver and its listings along with Boatshed Seattle’s. Boatshed Vancouver will return the favor during the upcoming Vancouver Boat Show (February 4 – 8).
Waterline Boats is appearing at both Seattle Boat Show venues – Qwest Field and Lake Union – January 23 through February 1.
Our location at Qwest Field is in the East Hall, where we will be displaying our Boatshed brokerage listings, and demonstrating the benefits of the Boatshed International Yacht Brokerage process to prospective boat buyers and sellers.
